I visited various graduate fairs to meet different employers during my final year as a student. Many of my peers were interested in traditionally popular sectors like banking, but for me the Stagecoach programme really stood out.

I liked the fact that you would get involved straight away at Stagecoach. There was immediate responsibility and a clear pathway for the future, whereas other employers’ schemes seemed muddled and a bit vague with no clear indication of what you would be doing. Talking to previous Stagecoach graduate trainees was very useful, as they described how much progress they’d made in the first year.

To be honest, at first I wasn’t sure that I would be able to match the speed of their progress. But my attitude quickly changed as I went through the training programme. It equipped me with everything I needed to take on the challenges that arose.

I feel as if I’ve already developed a great deal of industry-specific knowledge and a genuine acumen for the business. In turn this has given me the confidence to get on and do things, rather than just talk about doing them.

My time on the programme has involved plenty of hard work, but it’s been a lot of fun too.”
