Stagecoach Group confirms the sale by its UK Bus division of part of the former Ribble operations to Blazefield Group for a consideration of £13 million.

The sale includes depots at Blackburn, Bolton, Burnley and Clitheroe, employing some 500 staff running about 230 vehicles. Depots at Chorley, Preston and Fleetwood remain part of Stagecoach North West.

Brian Cox, Stagecoach executive director, said: "The company recently undertook a strategic review of all our UK Bus operations, and this sale is consistent with the findings of that strategic review."
