Stagecoach today (21 May 2010) welcomed the ruling by the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) following the transport group's appeal against the Competition Commission decision in the Preston Bus case.

A Stagecoach spokesman said: "We welcome today's ruling by the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT), which quashes key parts of the original decision by the Competition Commission and vindicates our position. The CAT has found that the evidence did not support the Competition Commission's conclusions.

We will now take time to consider the decision and its implications carefully. We will take legal advice on our options going forward, including how today's judgment affects the divestment process."
